It's not often we celebrate successes on here for anything not swimming related, but this week I had the privilege of watching 2 of our swimmers achieve something special outside of the pool.
I'm talking of the annual primary school cross country race held at Bishop Rawstorne school in Croston on Tuesday of this week. It was a great turn out with over 100 boys and 100 girls turning up to represent their schools in a 1200m race around the playing fields.
Imagine my surprise to see that the first 2 boys over the line were Chorley Marlins swimmers Jack Wilson and Ben Hughes. Jack just managed to hold off the strong challenge from Ben to cross the line in a very respectable 4min 33secs and take first place.
I was of course there to support Callan Sharples in this event who came home in 18th place just 25 secs behind Jack.
Can I take this opportunity to say a big WELL DONE to Jack, Ben and Callan for proving that fish really can run as well :)
