Well done to all of our swimmers who competed. It was great to see lots of strong swims, new personal bests and many swimmers taking part in their first gala.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Club Championships. Whether you achieved a PB, tried a new event, or raced for the first time, it was good to see the effort and commitment from all swimmers.

Entries Open – Garstang Gators Medals Gala 2026 

Entries are now open for the Garstang Gators Medals Gala 2026, a one-day event that would be a great first open meet for swimmers to enter. The gala is open to all swimmers from Development Group upwards. 

Across the programme, swimmers can compete in 50m and 100m events in all four strokes, plus the 200m Individual Medley for swimmers aged 9 and over. Every race is a chance to test progress, gain competition experience, and enjoy the excitement of racing in a supportive environment.

Eligibility
The competition is open to swimmers from Development Group and above who are 9 years old or over on the day of the meet and are registered Swim England members.

Age Groups
9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and Over (age as at midnight on 6 June 2026).

Events
50m and 100m events in all strokes, plus 200m Individual Medley.
Please note that the meet has consideration times (upper limits), meaning entry times must be slower than the stated limit. If a swimmer does not currently have a time in Swim Manager for an event they wish to enter, please speak to a coach to request a time. Times from the Chorley Marlins Spring Meet will be available to use on the closing day.

Sponsorship is £25 per event, and in return your chosen name will:

• appear in the official event programme, and
• be announced during the meet.

You can sponsor in your family name (e.g. “The Smith Family”), a swimmer’s name, or your business name — whichever you prefer.

It’s a simple but meaningful way to show your support, and every penny raised goes directly back into helping our swimmers and supporting club activities.

Why Our Club Championships Matter

As a competitive swimming club, our internal meets are an essential part of the swimmer pathway. They give every swimmer the opportunity to race, improve, and celebrate progress alongside teammates.

We expect all Development Group and squad swimmers to take part — whether it’s your first gala or your fiftieth, it’s a great chance to set new personal bests and gain valuable race experience in a supportive environment.

There are no minimum entry times, and events are seeded by ability, so everyone can take part and enjoy the day. Medals will be awarded to Female and Male/Open swimmers placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group.

Venue

Darwen Leisure Centre is an excellent competition venue, with an 8-lane 25m pool, electronic timing, and ample spectator seating. It’s a great setting for swimmers to perform at their best while families cheer them on.

Reminder: Burnley Bobcats – Racing for Regionals Meet 
Entries are now open in Swim Manager for the Burnley Bobcats Racing for Regionals meet.
Closing date for entries: Friday 20 February 2026.
Please submit your entries before the closing date to avoid missing out.

Well done to all Chorley Marlins swimmers who competed at the Leeds Christmas Cracker at the weekend. It was great to see so many of our swimmers enjoying some festive racing and producing a number of strong performances to round off the year. 

There were lots of positive swims across the weekend, with swimmers showing great commitment, effort, and team spirit in the pool. 

A special mention goes to Maisie M, who had an excellent meet and returned home with a fantastic set of medals:

• 3rd – Female 50m Backstroke

Arena League 2025 – Final Round Report

Saturday saw the final round of the 2025 Arena League, hosted at Ellesmere Port, and once again our swimmers rose to the occasion. Despite missing a few team members, we saw some excellent performances in the pool, backed by the fantastic team spirit that Chorley Marlins are known for.

As per league rules, points from Rounds 1 and 2 are expunged, meaning the final rankings are determined solely by the results achieved in the finals. We are delighted to say that Chorley Marlins maintained our 4th place finish — a consistent position across all three rounds.

A huge thank you to all the parents who made the journey to Ellesmere Port on a dark and wet December evening. Your support and commitment are truly appreciated. Thank you also to the swimmers who stepped in at short notice due to all the bugs circulating, and of course to our poolside volunteers who once again ensured everything ran smoothly.

Preston SC Super Sprint Meet 2026

Entries for the Preston SC Super Sprint Meet 2026 will open on Saturday 6th December. The meet takes place on Sunday 4th January 2026 at Darwen Leisure Centre and provides a vital opportunity for swimmers to gain County qualifying times before the window closes.

Unfortunately, our club entries for the Burnley Bobcats Last Chance County Qualifier were not accepted due to the meet being heavily oversubscribed. To ensure our swimmers still have a chance to secure their County times, we have added the Super Sprint Meet to our competition calendar.

Because of this late addition, the entry window is extremely tight — entries close on Thursday 11th December.
Payment must be made at the time of entry. We will not be able to chase late payments or incomplete entries.

Meet Information
PSC Super Sprint Meet 2026

Date: Sunday 4th January 2026
Venue: Darwen Leisure Centre, The Green, Darwen
Pool: 25m, 8-lane pool with anti-wave ropes and Swiss Timing Quantum system with scoreboard.

Limited parking is available on site, with additional parking options nearby.

Competition Ages: As of midnight on Sunday 4th January 2026.

This Level 3 licensed meet will run under Swim England Technical Rules. All swimmers must be registered at Swim England Club Compete level.

The Female category is for birth-sex females in line with Swim England’s Transgender and Non-Binary Competition Policy. Entry into the Female category confirms the swimmer’s birth sex is female.

Programme of Events

The meet includes:

• 50m, 100m & 200m Freestyle
• 50m, 100m & 200m Butterfly
• 50m, 100m & 200m Breaststroke
• 50m, 100m & 200m Backstroke
• 100m & 200m Individual Medley

All events will be heat-declared winners (HDW).

Entry Requirements:

• Events seeded slowest to fastest.
• Both upper and lower qualifying times apply.
• Entry times must be achieved within the last 12 months and converted to short course if needed.
• Times must come from an approved club time trial, timed event, or be endorsed by club coaches.

Spectator Information

• £10 per person for a full day
• £6 per person, per session
• Card payments accepted; cash also accommodated.

Awards

Medals awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in all events, including 50m heats, for the following age groups:

Female: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & Over
Open: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & Over

There will be no formal presentations. Medals must be collected from the trophy table in the café area on the day.
They will not be available after the event.

Spot prizes will also be available courtesy of MAK Swimwear.

Burnley Bobcats Last Chance County Qualifier 

9th, 10th & 11th January 2026

Entries are open in Swim Manager for the Burnley Bobcats Last Chance County Qualifier — a brilliant opportunity for swimmers to secure those final qualifying times ahead of the 2026 Lancashire County Championships.

This popular January meet offers a full programme of racing for all age groups, with a friendly and well-organised atmosphere ideal for both experienced competitors and those aiming for their first county times.

Event Programme

The meet includes 50m, 100m and 200m events in all four strokes, plus selected distance races.
Please note:

• 400m, 800m and 1500m events are not available to 9 and 10-year-olds.
• 800m and 1500m will run as mixed events, but medals will be awarded separately for Open/Male and Female categories.
• Entry seeding for all events is based on slowest to fastest using submitted times.

A full programme and qualifying times are attached below.

Spectators

• £10 per person for a full day
• £5 per session
• Please note: swimmers are not permitted in the spectator gallery.

Awards

Medals will be presented to the top three swimmers in each age category:

Female: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & Over

All races will be spearheaded.
There will be no formal medal presentations — awards can be collected from the designated table.
