Well done to Lizzie Woodcock for winning the top 12yr old girl award for the highest amount of FINA points obtained in a single event! She was closely followed by 5 other swimmers who made the top 3 - Jack H , Jack D and Anna D finished 2nd and Bradley and Chloe finished in 3rd place. There were 13 of our swimmers who finished in the top 10. And finally - points are accrued from the fastest finishers in each event to give a points total for each club at the end of the meet. Chorley finished a very creditable 3rd place only 11.5 points behind 2nd!! A great improvement on last year when we were 6th. A huge well done to all the swimmers who made this possible, not just down to the medallists!

Despite good all round effort by Marlins swimmers in the last micro league gala on Saturday, they narrowly missed out on securing their place in Division A. They will therefore be competing in the 'Division A swim off' at Blackpool in September against Clitheroe (also from division A) as well as Wigan and Lancaster from Division B.
On the day, Chorley Marlins finished 3rd behind Preston 'A' who finished 3rd in the league and Pioneer 79 who finished 5th overall. They achieved 107 points which placed them 28 points ahead of Clitheroe. There were great performances from swimmers who had to compete in older age groups, they were: Georgia Ashton, Isaac Brennand, Scott Paynter, Liam Hardman and Joe Arcangelo. Individual wins were achieved by: Lizzie Woodcock(free+fly), Georgia Ashton(fly+back), Isaac Brennand(breast+fly), Joe Arcangelo(free) and Luka Hyam(back). Well Done to: 9yrs: Sarah Glen, Imogen Blackwell, Emma Hinks, Ellie Hancock, Luke Batty, Callum Ward, Jayden Lowe, Joe Parkinson 10yrs: Georgia Ashton, Mia Louise Pilkington, Emma Baker, Rachel Parr, Joe Arcangelo, George Wilson, Alex Fitzpatrick, Daniel Caley 11yrs: Holly McHugh, Keira Dunstan, Katie Henry, Isaac Brennand, Scott Paynter, Liam Hardman 12yrs: Lizzie Woodcock(captain), Maddie Kennedy, Milly Arcangelo, Anika Anderson, Luka Hyam(captain) Chorley Marlins had an excellent performance in the 3rd round North Lancs gala last saturday coming 2nd to Preston who are currently top of the league. This was even more remarkable due to several regular swimmers being unavailable those who did take part had to swim in more events, in higher age groups, and had shorter breaks. The best performance of the meeting had to be the girls open freestyle relay, which was won by a large margin even though two of the swimmers, Elodie(13) and Lizzie(12), were quite a lot younger than the opposition (usually 15 or older).
Well done to: The 12/u: Lizzie Woodcock, Milly Arcangelo, Maddie Kennedy, Georgia Ashton, Isaac Brennand, Luka Hyam, Scott Paynter, Liam Hardman The 14/u: Chloe Cottam, Elodie Smallwood, Eleanor Anwyl, Helena Heald, Jack Hardman, Bradley Astles, Stephen Hancock, Jordan O'Hara Open: Emily Barclay, Anna Doughty, Elliot Smallwood, William Hawkes, Ben Gibbs, Joe Gibbs A BIG thank you to all those that supported the club by entering this years sprint meet. Some great swims all round, lots of PB's, no records were broken but some were equaled this year (nearly Tom nearly) There isn't room here to mention everyone but special mention must go to the following:

Well done to the 5 swimmers that represented Chorley Marlins at this years Regional Age Group Championships.
There were some great swims, PB's were smashed and needless to say a few tears shed along the way. Fantastic, well done to the following swimmers: Chloe Cottam - qualified for 8 events, reaching the final in 3 of them (400m Im/100m Fly/200m Fly) Jack Hardman - qualified for 4 events. Lizzie Woodcock - qualified for 3 events, reaching the final of the 100m Free and winning the bronze medal. Alex Highcock - qualified for 2 events. Luka Hyam - qualified for 1 event. To even qualify for the Regional Champs is a fantastic achievement, every credit goes to the level of commitment and attitude to training that each of these swimmers has shown over the last 12 months. A big thank you to all the coaching staff as well, as without you these swimmers would not be able to accomplish what they have. For a full run down of the results click here. |
