They give every swimmer the opportunity to race, improve, and celebrate their progress alongside teammates. We expect all Development Group and squad swimmers to take part — whether it’s your first gala or your fiftieth, it’s a chance to set new personal bests and gain valuable race experience in a supportive environment. There are no minimum entry times, and events are seeded by ability, so everyone can take part and enjoy the day. (Age as on 16th November 2025.) Venue Darwen Leisure Centre offers an excellent competition venue, with an 8-lane, 25m pool, electronic timing, and ample spectator seating. It’s a great setting for swimmers to perform at their best while families cheer them on. Volunteers Needed Our galas rely on the support of volunteers — from timekeepers and team managers to raffle helpers and chaperones. We simply can’t run the meet without you. If you can help on the day, please email Claire at [email protected] or comment below. We particularly need qualified timekeepers (or those willing to complete the Swim England Online Timekeeper Course before the meet). The e-learning module takes around 60–90 minutes and can be followed by your practical session at this gala. If you’ve previously completed a course and are available to help, please get in touch — your support makes all the difference! Raffle Donations We’ll be running a raffle at the meet to raise funds for the club. Donations of bottles, chocolates, wine, small gifts or vouchers are very welcome — please bring them along to Darwen on the day of the gala.
