After over four months away, training finally returned for our squads at Chorley and Brinscall swimming pools this week. It was great to see so many swimmers back in the pool. The swimmers thoroughly enjoyed being back in the water and seeing their friends in a safe, well organised, environment. A huge thank you to Mary our Head Coach, Claire (Covid Officer) and Bev (Treasurer) who have worked extremely hard planning for the return and working with the leisure centre.
Training does look a little different with social distancing measures and other operational procedures. We are pleased to say that the measures we have put in place are working smoothly from the entrance through to the poolside and then in the water. The swimmers and coaches have adapted fantastically well to the new environment, and full credit to our swimmers for the level of maturity they are showing in this new environment. They just seem excited to be back in the pool. Check out our new protocols here. As we get back into training, we hope to secure more pool time soon to allow us to increase the number of sessions for each squad. This phased approach to returning to training has allowed us to ensure that our Covid procedures are sound. We are very grateful for all the support we have received from parents over the last few months and thank you to those who have volunteered to help at training sessions. There are challenges ahead for the Club, particularly financial. We are restricted in how many swimmers we can have in the pool and lanes at any one time but still have the pool hire and coaching costs to cover, so the cost to run each session per swimmer increases. Once more pool time has been agreed we will update members with any changes to the training times. We plan to be able to bring our Mini Marlins swimmers back as soon as possible. Thanks again for your continued support - as always, it is very much appreciated. Comments are closed.
