‘England may not have brought the silverware home this weekend but Marlins certainly did!
For the swimmers that entered, this weekend saw a trip to Blackpool in sweltering heat (although I think the parents definitely came off worse with the heat, packed in the stands frantically wafting their programmes in an attempt to keep cool!) to compete in the North Lancs Level 3 meet which took place across Saturday and Sunday. There was tough competition with swimmers there from Blackpool, Leyland, Lancaster, Ormskirk, Burnley, Garstang, Pioneer 79, Blackburn, Fleetwood, Preston, Carnforth and Clitheroe but the swimmers did themselves, their families and the club proud bringing home a total of 3 speeding tickets, 21 medals and combined PB Improvements of 2:14.53!!! A huge well done to the following swimmers who competed this weekend: Abigail Bond 27.23 Combined PB Improvement Bronze 50m Backstroke Jurand Dlugolecki 1.67 Combined PB Improvement Gracie Dyson 31.91 Combined PB Improvement Silver 200m Freestyle Henrik Hansen 5.31 Combined PB Improvement Daisy Heywood 15.4 Combined PB Improvement Bronze 50m Breaststroke Ben Latham 7.67 Combined PB Improvement Bronze 50m Butterfly and Bronze 50m Freestyle Joe Parkinson 5.38 Combined PB Improvement Gold 50m Butterfly, Gold 100m Freestyle, Gold 100m Individual Medley, Gold 50m Breaststroke, Silver 50m Freestyle, Silver 100m Butterfly, Silver 200m Individual Medley, Silver 50m Backstroke, Silver 100m Breaststroke, Silver 100m Backstroke and Bronze 200m Freestyle. Mia-Louise Pilkington 0.97 Combined PB Improvement Bronze 200m Individual Medley and Silver 200m Freestyle Ethan Roberts 22.56 Combined PB Improvement Speeding Ticket 100m Freestyle, Speeding Ticket 50m Freestyle and Speeding Ticket 200m Breaststroke. Brandon Taylor 16.43 Combined PB Improvement Silver 50m Backstroke, Gold 200m Freestyle and Silver 50m Breaststroke. This is the last gala before our summer shut down (I can already hear the kids, coaches and parents cheering!) but keep your eyes peeled on the board at Chorley Leisure Centre for all upcoming galas! We have a brilliant uptake on Marlins galas but galas like this one are always low on numbers. If your child hasn't entered a non Marlins gala before it's a great opportunity for them to swim at different venues against different swimmers, if they'd like to give it a go, speak to one of the Marlins helpers you'll regularly see around the pool, any coaches or email Claire our Competitions Secretary, all will be happy to help with questions! Well Done Swimmers!’ Comments are closed.
