We would like to hear from anyone interested in becoming a swimming coach. This is open to anyone over 16 years of age so could be of interest to swimmers aged 16+, parents, family members and friends.
Coaches help swimmers to grow their capability and develop the skills and techniques to achieve their full potential. An assistant coach can start by simply helping during training sessions, with the option of taking formal training courses. In return for a commitment to volunteer with Chorley Marlins for 1-2 hours a week the club will support you in achieving a coaching qualification through experience and funding. The first level of qualification focuses how and what to coach. Once completed, coaches are qualified to actively support a more senior qualified or licensed coach at any level, in the delivery of a pre-prepared session. Swim England Swimming Assistant (Coaching) Certificate
Volunteering with Chorley Marlins could be a useful addition to CVs and University application personal statements. We would also like to hear from anyone who has previously helped at training sessions and would be willing to support the club again. if you have an interest in coaching, then please speak with Mary or email Bev for further information [email protected]

I would be really interested in training as a coach. I’m a primary school teacher so I have the background and experience in working with children and young people. As a youth, I swam competitively for many years and was proud to represent Great Britain before I accepted a soccer scholarship and followed a different path in sport. My son is now swimming with mini marlins and I would enjoy supporting the club as a volunteer.
