A really great effort was shown by all our swimmers at our 4th and final gala in the Micro League series. It was a really tense close fought battle for 3rd for us while Leyland and Preston battled it out for top honours, with Preston pipping Leyland in the final 4 races to secure the top spot. Blackpool chased us for 3rd all the way through the gala but we really shone and led ahead of them for the entire gala, with just a few close shaves where they nearly caught up.
Well done to all the swimmers who took part, take a look at the full round up of who swam what and where the points came from.

Well done to the 2 swimmers who represented Chorley Marlins in the first weekend of the regional championships.
Also well done to all those Chorley Marlins club members that swam for Bolton Squad at the regional championships.
A big CONGRATULATIONS for all those swimmers who through hard work and determination in training have proved why the North West is such a formidable swimming region.
What an amazing weekend of swimming for Chorley Marlins, those that entered did the club and themselves proud. We had it all, PB's (Personal Best's) galore, more medals than Mr T. (Google him kids - LOL), county/regional times for next year and not forgetting a very credible National Qualifying Time. It was a real pleasure to watch and gave us all a bit of pride from the small market town of Chorley. Congratulations and thanks to the following swimmers: Chloe Cottam - [Gold 400m Free, Gold 200m Fly, Bronze 200m IM, Bronze 200m Back, Bronze 100m Fly] Maddie Kennedy - [Silver 200m Fly, Silver 50m Free] Lizzie Woodcock - [Gold 50m Free, Bronze 50m Fly] Callan Sharples - [Bronze 200m Breast] Luka Hyam Alex Donohoe Mariette Braithwaite - [Gold 100m Fly] Sian Ormesher Alex Highcock - [Gold 200m Breast, Gold 100m Breast, Gold 50m Breast] Jack Hardman - [Bronze 200m Back, Bronze 100m Back, Bronze 100m Free] Liam Donohoe Abbie Brennand Isaac Brennand As you can see a very productive gala once again there were so many highlights from the oldest to the youngest of swimmers. There was Alex Highcock with her Gold in the 200m Breast and her National Qualifying Time of 2:48.89 (NQT= 2:49.83) a really good swim well done Alex. She didn't stop there and over the course of the weekend went on to win the gold in the 100m and the 50m Breast. On the Friday night we saw Chloe Cottam achieve a Gold in the 400m free and with a Regional Time of 5:10.30 (REG = 5:15.7) assuming next years times are the same as this years. She then added to her medals over the weekend with another gold and 3 bronze medals, well done Chloe. Lizzie Woodcock swam a great 50m Free in the penultimate race of the weekend in a time of 31.96 to take the gold to add to her bronze in the 50m Fly. Well done Lizzie. Mariette Braithwaite won gold in the 100m Fly in a quick time of 1:17.55, well done Mariette. Jack Hardman proved he's no slouch when it comes to backstroke by winning bronze in both the 200m and 100m back events, but also proved he could do it on his front when he cruised home to take the bronze in the 100m free in a time of 1:03.35. Not far off the magic 1min mark keep up the good work Jack, well done. Callan Sharples entered the 200m breast with not having broke his PB for over a year, but showed no signs of it by knocking off 12 secs to take the bronze in a time of 3:21.34, it just goes to show don't get disheartened, knuckle down, train well and things will happen. well done Callan At the younger end we saw a couple of great swims from Isaac Brennand and Liam Donohoe. Isaac swam a great 50m breast in a time of 47:81 and Liam swam a fantastic 36.67 in his 50m Free heat, unfortunately they didn't come away with medals but nobody can take their times away from them, well done boys. Well done to Abbie Brennand who was swimming in her first gala, it can be nerve wracking but they get easier I'm sure. Well that's it for now, hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon. Here's some of our medal winners proudly showing their bling :)
The 3rd round of the North West Micro league saw us swimming up at Clitheroe.
A bit of a shaky start with us getting disqualified in a couple of relay events but we settled into our stride with some good swims to get a very credible 3rd place behind Preston A and Carnforth A. Well done to all those that entered, please see the results sheet below for an event by event review. It was an eventful weekend down in Wrexham as Chorley Marlins were well represented with basically 93 races entered into with 70 of those swims resulting in personal best times (PB's). Here's a run down of some of those results: Gold = 16 Anna Doughty [100m Breast] [400m Free] [100m Fly] [200m Back] [50m Free] [50m Breast] [100m Free] WOW :) Jack Dandy [50m Back] [50m Fly] [100m Fly] [50m Free] [100m Back] [200m Breast] [100m Free] WOW :) Jack Hardman [200m Free] Alex Highcock [50m Breast] Silver = 11 Jack Hardman [50m Back] [200m Back] [100m Back] Maddie Kennedy [200m Fly] Chloe Cottam [200m Back] [400m IM] [200m Breast] Lizzie Woodcock [50m Free] Rhiannon Crist [100m Back] Alex Highcock [100m IM] [200m Breast] Bronze = 14 Lizzie Woodcock [50m Back] [50m Fly] [200m Back] Kelly Anne Roscoe [50m Back] Rhiannon Crist [50m Back] [100m Fly] Jack Hardman [400m Free] [50m Fly] [50m Free] [100m Free] Harry England [200m Back] Alex Walmsley [100m IM] [200m Breast] Chloe Cottam [100m Free] Medals for 4th, 5th and 6th = 27 A total of 68 medals!!! It's fair to say that Chorley Marlins made a big impact down in Wrexham, not bad, not bad at all. It is worth noting as well that not only did we carry away our own weight in medals but we also broke records along the way: Anna Doughty got the Wrexham meet records for the 14 year old category in the following events:- 100 breast, 400 free, 100 fly, 50 free, 50 breast and the 100 free Also Jack Dandy got the Wrexham meet records for 14 year old category in the following events:- 50 fly and the 50 free. Well Done to all that entered keep up the good work :) Check out the photo below of some of our swimmers at Wrexham and also download the full results file:
