We hope everyone enjoyed the Rookie Lifeguard Festival last night with lots of fun activities including dingy race, body boards, t-shirt relays, and rescues. Well done to the members of Abi's team on coming first. Thank you to Mary, Claire, Rachel, Mia, Jess and Helen for the smooth running of the event. Please spend time with your children this Drowning Prevention Week (17 - 24 June) to have the ‘Water Safety Conversation’. A few moments that could stick with them in their time of greatest need. The code focuses on four simple points: STOP AND THINK: take time to assess your surrounds. Look for the dangers and always research local signs and advice. STAY TOGETHER: when around water always go with friends or family. Swim at a lifeguarded venue. IN AN EMERGENCY… CALL 999: ask for the Fire and Rescue Service when inland and the Coastguard if at the coast. Don’t enter the water to rescue. FLOAT: fall in or become tired – stay calm, float on your back and call for help. Throw something that floats to somebody that has fallen in. Water Safety Code Animation
The animation walks through the water safety code which is the fundamental spine of all water safety education. It is designed to provide simple and easy to remember information that acts as both a proactive measure to help educate people to make early, critical decisions, and also to help people understand what they should do in an emergency. Accepted entries are attached below for the North Lancs L3 Development Meet 1st & 2nd July 2023 at Palatine Leisure Centre, Blackpool. Please check your swimmer's entry, any question email Claire competitions@chorleymarlins.org.uk Marlins entries are pages 9-12.
Dear Members
As a club that relies of volunteers, could we bring to your attention that gala payments must be made when your entry is submitted before the closing date. The Competitions Secretary and Treasurer are again spending their time chasing late payments which could result in our clubs entry being submitted late and being rejected. We set a closing date so that we can collate all the relevant information and get our entry submitted to the officials on time. We can no longer chase late entry payments. If your payment isn’t received before the closing date your entry will unfortunately be rejected and you will be unable to participate in that gala. We thank you for your understanding and continual support. The Committee There are a number of training cancellations this week:
