As a competitive swimming club, our internal galas are important in the development of our swimmers. We rely on the support of volunteers to make these a success and simply cannot do it without help. Our next Club gala will be on Sunday November 20th at Darwen Leisure Centre.
We would like to encourage parents willing to help to qualify as timekeepers. The Swim England Timekeeping Course is online and can be completed anytime prior to the Distance Meet. The course covers what being a timekeeper is all about through an interactive e-learning which will take you between 60 and 90 minutes to complete, followed by a practical timekeeping session. This can be completed at an event such as the Distance Meet. You can find out more and sign up here. Swimming Lesson Helper This eLearning will equip you with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to effectively help a swimming teacher deliver a swimming lesson. Who is the eLearning designed for? This eLearning is aimed at anyone aged 14-16 who wants to gain experience and/ or volunteer in swimming lessons. It is perfect for those wishing to pursue a career in swimming teaching but not yet 16 and able to complete their SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification. Format The eLearning will take you approximately 2 hours to complete and will include interactive activities and knowledge checks throughout. At the end of the eLearning there is an assessment to complete; to pass this you need to score 80%. Once you have completed the online learning, you can download a copy of your e-certificate and practical worksheet. We recommend you complete your practical learning worksheet with a suitably qualified swimming teacher. Once you have completed the practical learning worksheet, you will be ready to start your SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification once you turn 16.
