Development Group
This squad is aimed at improving the skills of children that can swim, to develop them into competitive swimmers. Training is for 1 hour per week on a Saturday.
The first Development Group will be working towards Pre-Competition Development 1 and the second group progressing to Pre-Competition Development 2. The Pre-Competition Development programme helps to develop the skills and confidence needed for those who want to learn about competitive swimming.
The two awards focus on revising and consolidating the efficient performance of the four competitive strokes and the racing skills needed. Following the Pre-Competition Development programme will help your child with stroke development, kicking, turns and using a pace clock, followed by the more demanding aspects of training development.
More information on the Pre Competition Development programme can be found here.
Swimmers will undertake assessment across varying times of the year. The assessment is designed to fit in with the club's training programme and is not designed to distract or worry the swimmers.
The six progressive Swim England Swimming Club Awards help children make the transition from the Swim England Learn To Swim Programme to a club level swimmer. More information can be found here.
Development Group swimmers will be encouraged to compete in the Clubs internal galas and may on occasions be asked to compete for the club as part of the Micro-League squad.
