Intermediate Squad
The Intermediate Squad is for swimmers who have developed a strong technical foundation and are ready to take on a more demanding training schedule. Progression into this squad is based on the Head Coach’s assessment of a swimmer’s ability, attitude, and readiness to manage increased training load and expectations.

Competition & performance
Training at this level is more physically demanding, especially during the first few weeks after moving up. Swimmers should expect increased fatigue as their bodies adapt to a performance-focused programme.
Swimmers are expected to:
A minimum attendance rate of 75% is required to make consistent progress and remain eligible for this squad.
Training commitment
- Four pool sessions per week (approx. 6.5 hours total)
- Optional 1-hour land training session on Sundays
- Some sessions are shared with Junior Squad swimmers to encourage teamwork and leadership.
Expectations
Swimmers are expected to:
- Show self-discipline, focus, and commitment
- Listen carefully and apply technical feedback
- Organise their own kit and be punctual for training
- Use the pace clock confidently and understand training intervals
- Take increasing responsibility for their own progress

- Compete in club internal galas
- Represent Chorley Marlins in team competitions such as the Micro League and Arena League
- Enter appropriate Open Meets to gain racing experience
