2nd Round - North Lancs League @ Lancaster, Sat 17th May 2014

20/5/2014

This round of the North Lancs League was another stern test for our swimmers with many of our usual ones unavailable. This put pressure on the team, some of who had to swim up to eight races. Many swimmers had to swim up an age group and for some swimmers even two age groups. However, they were up to the challenge and swimmers such as Isaac are building a reputation for taking on the older boys.

Our experienced national and regional swimmers led by example and this helped the younger team members focus on maximising points without wasting energy  on lost causes. This achieved an important result finishing 17 points ahead of Burnley which is likely to be significant at the end of the season.

There were some creditable first places for Marlins swimmers and many other  notable performances. Such as Maddie Kennedy who got a second after not being able to train for almost a month and also the Arcangelo sisters Millie and Amelia, their performance was so seamless you could almost believe that they were the same person. But the most phenomenal performance was by our youngest swimmer (according to Mary's sheet D.O.B. 18/10/08) Anna Doughty- truly phenomenal in the open age group.

The only real concern for the team was the standard of the start in the girls 12/u 50 fly. However, once Lizzie had found the right end of the pool she put on a good performance.

Well done to:

The 12/u's - Lizzie Woodcock, Maddie Kennedy, Milly Arcangelo, Katie Doughty, Isaac Brennand, Luka Hyam, Callan Sharples, Liam Hardman

The 14/u's - Chloe Cottam, Ellie Anwyl, Alex Highcock, Jack Hardman, Bradley Astles, Jordan O'Hara

Open- Anna Doughty, Tom Gibbs, Ben Gibbs, Jack Dandy, Elliot Smallwood
