A great weekend of swimming at sunny Blackpool.What a great gala with a fantastic atmosphere and some great swims despite the heat, well done to all those that managed to take part and commiserations to those that didn't make it due to the qualifying times being cut. I thought Blackpool ASC did a fantastic job in organising this gala, it must have been a knightmare logistically to cram all those swims into a weekend. I can't go into too much detail here as it would take up half the webpage but here's a quick run down of some of the main achievements over the course of the weekend. With such hard competition from all over the North West you've done really well to finish in the top 10 in any event, so here's a list of the swimmers who placed 10th or above. Connor Stevens (10 Year Old) - 4th 400m Free - 9th 100m Breast - 8th 200m Free - 5th 50m Back - 5th 100m fly - 9th 50m Free - 6th 100m Back - 10th 100m Free - 5th 200m IM - 6th 200m Breast - 6th 50m Fly - 8th 200m Back. WOW is that all :) well done Connor Bradley Astles (11 Year Old) - 10th 400m Free - 7th 200m Free - 7th 50m Free - 9th 200m IM - 9th 200m Back. Louisa Brophy (12 Year Old) - 7th 50m Breast - 9th 100m Breast - 9th 200m Breast. Elizabeth Woodcock (10 Year Old) - 9th 400m Free - 9th 200m fly. James Highcock (14 Year Old) - 1st 100m Breast - 1st 200m Breast. WOW 2 Golds well done James :) Alex Highcock (11 Year Old) - 2nd 50m Breast - 4th 200m Breast. Another trophy (Silver) for the Highcocks, have you got room. well done Alex :) Kelly-Anne Roscoe (12 Year Old) - 9th 100m Back - 10th 50m Back - 9th 50m Free. Callan Sharples (10 Year Old) - 7th 400m Free - 5th 200m Breast. Mariette Braithwaite (11 Year Old) - 10th 50m fly. Luka Hyam (10 Year Old) - 9th 400m free. Our Chairman (Mark Astles) had this to say: " A great success and thanks to all the swimmers who competed in the Blackpool Rocks Gala this weekend, numerous PB's achieved by all. I would also like to thank all the parents who spectated all weekend in the highest temperatures of the year.
