Olivia Broome had a highly successful meet at last Monday’s National Dwarf Games swimming gala at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre in Walsall, swimming herself to a gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals. Very well done Olivia! Congratulations also to Holly McHugh, who, at the Wrexham Spring Meet, achieved 8 personal best times and a silver medal in 400m individual medley. Over in Manchester, at the Northwest Summer Region Championships, our boys 14-16yrs 4x100m freestyle team (Jacob Hughes, Stephen Brown, Callum Eastwood and Jordan O’Hara) swam their hearts out to knock 4 seconds off their entry time. Fabulous swimming from all four boys achieved them a very respectable 11th finish position. Very bad luck meant that unfortunately our boys had to withdraw from the 4x100m medley relay. Jordan O’Hara also took on his own individual events, 50m free, 50m fly and 100m freestyle, achieving himself personal best times in all 3 and qualifying for all 3 regional finals, fantastic swimming! Jordan narrowly missed out on a bronze medal by just 200ths of a second in his 50m freestyle final. We wait to see whether any of Jordan’s swims will place him in the top 20 swimmers in his age group in England at the end of May, which would mean an invite to the English Nationals this summer. Good luck Jordan. This weekends long course training is for the following swimmers:
