It was excellent to see so many Chorley Marlins swimmers back in the pool competing after a nearly two year absence. Well done to all those who took part today especially those competing for the first time. Thank you to the swimmers, parents, Darwen Leisure Centre staff, Mary and the volunteers for making today a success. We hope swimmers and spectators enjoyed themselves at the gala. A reminder that there is no training at Brinscall tomorrow, Sunday19th September, due to the Chorley Marlins Sprint Meet taking place.
Attached below is the final draft of entries for Sunday's Chorley Marlins Sprint Meet. Please check entered events and the swimmers age. This will be printed on Saturday ready for the gala.
Entries close today, Friday 17th September, for the North Lancs No Frills Meet at Darwen on 10th October.

Swimmers that are registered for the Sprint Gala need to ensure that their Swim England membership is upgraded from Category 1 to a Category 2 by no later than Wednesday, 15th September. To upgrade to CAT 2 the amount payable is £18.55. This should be paid into the Chorley Marlins account with the swimmers name as reference. Sort code 20-69-85 account 73040828. Please check the attached list of entries for this Sunday's Chorley Marlins Sprint Gala at Darwen. If anything is incorrect please email Claire [email protected] It is important that anyone no longer wishing to swim also lets Claire know. As you will see from the list of entries there have only been a small number entering from the Development Squad for the 25m events. With the news that spectators are now allowed at the Sprint Gala we would encourage as many Development Squad swimmers to enter and gain the experience of competing in a gala. Entry forms are available here, we will accept additional entries but please submit as soon as possible.
We have some good news, spectators are now allowed at this Sunday's Marlins Sprint Gala at Darwen Leisure Centre.
Admission is £3 for adults and children are free. Please bring the correct money to speed up entry. If any Development Squad swimmers want to enter now that spectators are allowed we will accept entries for a few more days. Please return your entry form as soon as possible. Entry forms are available here. We would like to encourage as many Development Squad swimmers as possible to enter as it would be a good opportunity to experience a gala and swim in an excellent pool. Can spectators please observe social distancing inside the leisure centre. The meet will be held at Darwen Leisure Centre on Sunday 19th September between 2pm and 4pm Spectators are now welcome at training sessions. All spectators must watch from the viewing gallery balcony, the café area at All Seasons is not yet open. Swimmers are now also permitted to use showers and changing rooms following the session.
We have updated the calendar with some key dates including the Marlins Get Together and cancelled training sessions.
The Marlins Get Together will take place on Friday 26th November at St George’s Club, 7:30 to 12:00. It has been a while since we have been able to get together and there are quite a few new members so it would be good to see as many families there as possible. Tickets are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and includes a hot pot supper. Contact Bev to reserve tickets, they will also be available to purchase at the pool during training in November. [email protected] A reminder, Friday 10th is the closing date for new entries for the Chorley Marlins Sprint Gala. The meet will be held at Darwen Leisure Centre on Sunday 19th September between 2pm and 4pm. Original entries from the postponed March 2020 gala have been rolled over, a list of accepted entries is attached below. For these there is nothing to do unless you want to enter additional events. The gala is open to all Chorley Marlins swimmers swimming in Development Squad and above. New entrants are also very welcome including the 25m races events for current Development Squad swimmers. Please note – Swimmers entering the competition in March 2020 who have subsequently moved to Alphas or Improvers will now be entered in the 50m events.
