A reminder that face covering are still required when entering the leisure centres unless exempt.
Swimmers may remove their face coverings on poolside immediately prior to the commencement of the session and will be asked to put the face covering on before leaving the poolside. It is optional for children under the age of 11 as they are not required by law to wear face coverings. Thank you for your continued support. Our normal weekend training times of Saturday 5-7pm and Sunday 5-8 pm at All Seasons Chorley are still unavailable to us with the leisure centre closing at 4pm at weekends. We do not have any indication yet when we will be able to restart weekend training at Chorley. We hope Chorley Council will review this as soon as possible rather than leaving the pools closed and unused on weekend evenings.
Fortunately, Mary has secured continued use of Leyland Leisure Centre for at least the next four weeks on Saturday’s 2-3pm to allow us to continue running Mini Marlins and Development Squad sessions. Congratulations to former Chorley Marlins swimmer Anna Hopkin on winning the Women's 100m Freestyle Bronze at the European Swimming Championships today in Budapest. This was a brilliant individual bronze for Hopkin a talented freestyler, taking her European medal tally to three, having already won gold in the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle and Mixed 4x100m Medley relays – this would become four before the night was out with gold in Mixed 4x100m Freestyle relay. Anna joined Chorley Marlins at the age of eight. She has described her earliest swimming memory as “Doing micro-leagues when I was eight or nine" representing Chorley Marlins. “It was similar to Arena League and it was for the younger ones – 4x25m relays and 50m races – so it was just a lot of fun." “At that point, we were doing quite well in the micro-leagues; our relays were really fast. It’s fun to do relays and get to know people that way and make friends with them.” Everyone at Chorley Marlins is extremely pleased to see Anna's success and look forward to watching her in the Olympics in Tokyo in July. Watch Anna Hopkin win bronze: BRONZE Anna Hopkin (GBR) 53.43 – “I’m so-so happy, this is my first individual international medal. The time is not far from my persona best which is 53.2. I feel great....”
