A poolside helper supports the delivery of club sessions under the supervision of a qualified teacher or coach. Helping to share the workload and bringing onboard new parents to help the Club thrive has been integral to the success and survival of our club for the last 50 years.
There is no requirement to having a swimming background or being an experienced swimmer yourself. You can start by simply helping during training sessions to see if it is something you enjoy. All you need is a willingness to have a go, learn and enthusiasm. Coaches and teachers help swimmers to grow their capability and develop the skills and techniques to achieve their full potential. In return for a commitment to volunteer with Chorley Marlins for 1-2 hours a week the club could support you in achieving a swimming teacher or coaching qualification through experience and funding. A Level 1 Assistant Coach qualification focuses how and what to coach. Once completed, coaches are qualified to actively support a more senior qualified or licensed coach at any level, in the delivery of a pre-prepared session. This is a fun and supportive role which success and impact on the Club will be determined by your own motivations and enthusiasms. As well as your ability to assist the delivery of club training sessions, it is an opportunity to take on a new challenge, gain practical teaching/coaching experience, and support the development of all swimmers involved in the club. The future of local sports clubs rely heavily on the skills, knowledge and commitment of its volunteers. When you become a volunteer you will make a crucial difference to both the club and its members. It really is very rewarding to give up your time for the benefit of the children, club and sport and your contribution would be greatly appreciated. We would especially like to hear from people willing to help out poolside with Mini Marlins with the potential to train as a Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) in the future. If you would like to know more please speak with Mary or Dominic or email [email protected] For Sundays Club Championships we have received some generous donations of prizes for the raffle. Mike at Always Elite Performance has donated a taster coaching session in the Endless Pool at the Swim Cellar. This will give a swimmer the opportunity to work on their technique including seeing their swimming on video. An Endless Pool is a small pool with a counter current motor that holds you in place, think of a running machine but for swimming. You can find out more about how Always Elite Performance can support club swimmers here: Facebook Always Elite Performance Instagram Always Elite Performance [email protected] The Anderton Centre at Anglezarke has donated a Pay & Play session for Sit On Kayak or Stand Up Paddle Boarding.
