The Lancashire County W.P. & S.A. Age Groups and Championships will be held at Manchester Aquatic Centre on 11th/12th and 25th/26th January 2020 and 8th/9th February.

The annual Chorley and Leyland Shrimps Gala takes place on the 11th January 2020 at All Seasons Leisure Centre, warm up is 5 pm.

This gala is a great opportunity for all of our young swimmers to experience what it is like to race competitively against swimmers from other clubs, whilst in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

The gala is open for ALL Chorley and Leyland swimmers who are 8 or 9 on 31st December 2020.

The events are 25 meters in all four strokes.

 A £5 entry fee will allow swimmers to compete in all four events.

Swimmers must be approved by coaches for each event and then fill out an entry form. You can find these either on the notice board or can be downloaded below.

Forms must be completed and returned by 22nd December 8 pm.

Warm-Up Procedure
The morning session warm up will start at 8am and the start time for the programme will be as soon after 9.00am as possible.
For the afternoon, warm up session will start at 1:00pm with a start time of as soon after 2.00pm as possible.

The morning warm up will be as follows:
8.00-8.20am: 12/over Girls
(Last 5 mins sprint lanes in 1 & 8)
8.20 - 8.40am: 9-11 Girls and Boys
(Last 5 mins sprint lanes 1 & 8)
8.40-9:00am: 12/over Boys
(Last 5 mins sprint lanes 1 & 8)

The afternoon warm up will be as follows:
1.00 - 1.20pm: 12/over Boys
(Last 5 minutes sprint lanes 1 & 8)
1.20 -1.40pm: 9-11 Girls and Boys
(Last 5 minutes sprint lanes 1 & 8)
1.40 -2:00pm: 12/over Girls
(Last 5 minutes sprint lanes 1 & 8)

Please note:
There is to be no diving in the shallow end and no diving in the deep end except in the sprint lanes at the end of the warm up periods when it is safe to do so.

Withdrawals
Withdrawal slips must be handed into the timing suite by 8:15am during the morning warm-up and by 1:15pm during the afternoon warm-up.

If you wish to withdraw prior to the day of the meet then please text me on 07779953942, giving the swimmers name, club and events (or state withdraw from gala in full)

Parking:
Parking at the Deane Road NCP car park across the road from Bolton One is free on Sunday. It's accessed via Stanley Street which is a left turn from the 
A676 (Deane Road) as you approach Bolton from the M61. Postcode BL35DX. Don’t park outside the pool for more than 20 mins to drop off otherwise you’ll get a ticket!

With many swimmers achieving personal bests in last weekend’s Chorley Marlins Winter Championships we would like to draw your attention to the Competitive Swimming Performance Awards.

The awards can be secured in Breaststroke, Butterfly, Front Crawl, Backstroke, and Individual Medley for Sprint, Middle Distance, or Distance. The awards are split into Sprint (25m,50m and 100m); Middle Distance (All 200m & 400m freestyle) and Distance (400m IM, All 800m and 1500m Freestyle). The award scheme is designed to motivate and reward achievements of swimmers at any age or level.

Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Awards are available depending on times taken to complete the relevant distances. Awards can also be given retrospectively for example if you have a Gold time you can also purchase the Silver and Bronze award if you wish and if you have a Silver time you can also purchase the Bronze award.

Once the swimmer achieves a time at that level for any stroke, they can claim the round badge that relates to the distance (Sprint, Middle, Distance) and the relevant stroke flash to indicate which stroke they have achieved the award in.  They can then collect further flashes as times are achieved for each stroke of that distance. The idea is to get the circular round badges for Sprint, Middle Distance and Distance in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum and have each of the strokes under the badge.

​The CSP Awards can be purchased from the club.  Please place your order form and payment (cheques payable to Chorley Marlins ASC) in a sealed envelope labelled ‘Competitive Performance Award Order’ and post in the Chorley Marlins post box.
