I must apologise to all those parents who eagerly awaited the results sheets at the end of the gala, due to the power being cut half way through printing to blow up the inflatable we were unable to print as many as we wanted. We have therefore posted the results on the gala reports page for you to print off yourselves. Pupils from Bolton School including our very own Maddie Kennedy competed in the National Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge Sheffield, taking on twenty four teams from all areas of the country.
Maddie and her team mates had qualified to swim in both the Freestyle Relay and the Medley Relay by recording very good times in the preliminary rounds earlier this year. In the Medley relay they qualified for the final in 8th place and after an exceptional swim in the finals placed 5th with a time of 1.11 67. In the Freestyle relay, the team had an amazing swim in the heats to put them into the final in 6th place in a time of 1.01.41. They really pushed hard in the finals but unfortunately got themselves disqualified for a faulty change over. Well Done to Maddie and her team mates from all at Chorley Marlins. Full Story and picture to be found on the below link: http://www.boltonschool.org/junior-girls/news/girls-make-finals-of-national-swimming-championships/ In the past week or so two of our members have cause to celebrate, and we thought we'd share their success with you. Jack Dandy competed this week in the 'Wigan High Schools Triathlon' competition held at Leigh Sports Village. Pupils from Y7,Y8 & Y9 from all over the Wigan borough competed in the swim/bike/run event. Jack did extremely well finishing in 2nd place overall and winning his Y8 category. Well Done Jack I'm sure we have a future Olympic Tri-athlete on our hands :) Full results can be found here:
Emily Barclay on the 22nd June 2012 achieved what every one of our swimmers dreams of and that's competing at the British Gas ASA National Championships at Sheffield. To line up against the country's top swimmers at the tender age of 14 is some feat, never the less that is what Emily has achieved. Emily did extremely well in the heats to qualify for the final of the 50m Freestyle, which you can watch by clicking on the photo opposite, scroll down the page to select the Women's 50m Free. I know it must be awful when a commentator gets your name wrong (I won't here it's Emily BARCLAY :), but let me set the record straight that is our very own Emily I can assure you. What a great race, great attitude and a pleasure to watch. Well Done Emily Barker, oops Barclay :) hee hee. |
