BOBCATS County Qualifier

Information received regarding Burnley Bobcats ‘Last Chance County Qualifier’ 2023 L3 Open Meet: 

We hope you’ve all had a great Christmas and are ready to welcome in the new year. Our County Qualifier meet is fast approaching, and we are looking forward to a full programme of racing with 31 teams from Lancashire and Yorkshire making it a very competitive Level 3 meet.

Those familiar with BOBCATS meets at Darwen will be aware of the team seating arrangements, all teams will be based in the sports hall on Saturday and Sunday. We do this to ensure swimmers, spectators, officials, and coaches all have sufficient space to be comfortable for the duration of the meet. Your cooperation is vital to ensure the weekend runs smoothly, further information is provided below. 

Withdrawals:

• e-mail [email protected] or text (07577415621) up to 60 minutes before the start of the session. Please state the swimmer’s name, club name, event number, competition number and the name of the events wishing to be withdrawn from or…
• In person at the designated desk on the day using a withdrawal form up to 60 minutes before the start of the session.

​Session Information:

​In the event of Sessions 2 and 4 overrunning, Sessions 3 and 5 may start later to ensure coaches and officials have sufficient time for lunch. Any changes will be announced on the day.

Warm-Ups in Sessions 2-5 have been split by boy/girl and by club and is attached below. Chorley Marlins boys are in Group B and girls are in Group D (Saturday) and Group F (Sunday). 

Seating arrangements for teams (Friday Evening)

Teams will be able to sit on the scoreboard side of the pool for the duration of the distance
freestyle events. Swimmers should report to the gallery side of the pool for marshalling.

Seating arrangements for teams (Saturday and Sunday)

• All swimmers will be based in the sports hall with designated areas provided for each team (there will be no poolside seating for swimmers).
• On arrival, swimmers, coaches, and team managers should go directly to their designated area in the sports hall and remain there unless they are getting changed, warming up or racing.
• We will have a team of competitor stewards / Marshalls based in the sports hall and on poolside. Swimmers will need to report for marshalling in the sports hall and will then be sent in their heats to the team on poolside.
• Swimmers should ensure that they are dry and are wearing appropriate footwear before returning to the sports hall.
  
• Swimmers should not enter the spectator area during racing. To ensure the safety of all competitors, spectators must not enter the sports hall.
  
• We would like to remind clubs that they are responsible to ensure swimmers stay within the designated areas and abide by these rules.
  

Spectators

• Entrance fees are £8 per day (Saturday/Sunday), £3 will be refunded for a half day at the end of the morning session. Just afternoon sessions will be charged at £5.
• Entrance for the 800m / 1500m Freestyle events on Friday evening will be free.
• Programmes will be available for £2.
• We accept Cash or Contactless payments.
