Welcome back, we hope you and your families have remained safe and well during these difficult times. We are excited to be back in the water, however, as we are sure you will appreciate, in order to provide the safest possible environment for both our swimmers and coaching team we have had to implement a number of significant changes. Please take the time to read and familiarise yourself with the following procedures. These have been produced in accordance with current leisure centre procedures and government guidelines and will be reviewed as this guidance is updated. Thank you to all our members for your continued support during this challenging time. COVID- 19 LIAISON OFFICERS To ensure we are delivering the safest possible service for both swimmers and our coaching team, COVID -19 liaison officers have been appointed. An officer will be present at every session to assist coaching staff in the escorting and supervision of swimmers. Liaison officers will not be acting in a coaching/teaching role but will be present on poolside throughout every session to ensure all the correct procedures and protocols are being followed. PREPARING TO SWIM Swimmers should arrive beach ready, wearing swimwear, footwear, and a layer of easily removeable clothing. Swimmers may bring a small bag containing towel, goggles, hat and water bottle. Swimmers are asked to bring only the equipment requested by the coach. Please ensure all water bottles are clearly named. COVID -19 health screening forms must be completed each time swimmer attends training; these will be collected by the COVID -19 liaison officer. Registration for all sessions must take place prior to entering the building, please come prepared in the event of inclement weather. Those showing any symptoms, those who live in the same household as a person displaying symptoms, and those who are known to have been in contact with another person who has tested positive will not be permitted to swim and must self-isolate in accordance with government guidelines. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the session, all swimmers must be checked in by the COVID -19 liaison officer, unfortunately, latecomers cannot be guaranteed entry. HYGIENE ARRANGEMENTS Showers will not be available; swimmers are encouraged to shower at home prior to attending the session. Following the session swimmers are asked to put on footwear and onesie / dressing gown / suitable loose clothing and prepare to leave the building promptly. Whilst toilet facilities will be made available, to reduce the risk of transition of infection swimmers are encouraged to use the toilet prior to leaving home. All Seasons - Toilets will be available in the pool foyer area. Swimmers will also have access to the disabled toilet in the shower area should they need to use it during the session, this toilet will be cleaned after every use. Brinscall Pool - Toilets will be available in the pool foyer area. Swimmers will also have access to the toilet in the shower area should they need to use it during the session, this toilet will be cleaned after every use. Any necessary emergency first aid will be conducted by qualified lifeguard / first aider from Active Nation. Appropriate PPE will be donned prior to any first aid being administered and staff will be following new guidance issued to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. In the unlikely event of CPR being required chest compressions only will be administered. Coaching staff and club volunteers will observe social distancing measures with all swimmers. In the unlikely event that this may need to be breached PPE will be provided. ARRIVING AT THE POOL Drop off for all swimmers will be at the main entrance, parents and swimmers are reminded that social distancing must be maintained when leaving the car and making their way to the meeting point. Car parking at Brinscall pool is somewhat limited, in addition to the pool car park on street parking is available along Lodge Bank and Railway Road. Swimmers will be greeted by the COVID -19 liaison officer at the main entrance, the liaison officer will then record arrival and collect and check paperwork. Parent /guardians are asked to ensure that they provide a phone number on which they can be contacted immediately in the case of emergency /swimmer becoming unwell. Swimmers will then be escorted into the building by coaches and the liaison officer. Parents are asked to remain within close proximity of the centre to ensure children can be collected promptly should this be necessary. ENTRANCE TO THE FACILITY & CHANGING Swimmers will enter the facility via the main entrance, only swimmers under the age of 8 years, or those with additional needs may be accompanied by an adult. Swimmers will be escorted through reception into the pool foyer, where they will be able to remove any outer layer of clothing in a designated, marked out area. Swimmers will be asked to place their belongings in their bag which they will take with them onto poolside. Swimmers and coaches will enter poolside via the staff entrance door, making their way to poolside along the walkway and behind the control console. They will then access the main pool via the walkway separating the teaching pool and the slide and beach area, making their way towards the deep end of the pool. Teachers and coaches will escort swimmers to the appropriate area of the pool. The teaching pool will not be in use at this time. Swimmers will be asked to leave bags and belongings on the wall running along the length of the poolside, lockers will not be in use. To comply with social distancing all sessions will be taught from poolside, teachers are unable to assist children in the water. EQUIPMENT Where possible swimmers must use their own training equipment, equipment cannot be shared amongst swimmers. For our younger swimmers who do not own their own equipment this will be provided by the club. All equipment will be cleaned and sanitised before and after use. Equipment must not be shared by swimmers during the course of session. Hats and goggles will not be loaned by the club, it is also important that swimmers are able to adjust hats and goggles independently, coaches and poolside staff must maintain social distancing and avoid contact and so will be unable to assist children with this.
