Shrimps Gala Report

The annual Chorley and Leyland Shrimps Gala took place on the 11th of January at the All Seasons Leisure Centre. For those who are unfamiliar with this Gala, it is a great opportunity for both clubs younger swimmers usually aged 7 to 9 years of age to race competitively against each other. They can compete in all four strokes over a distance of 25m and are also timed so that they can monitor their own progress. It is also good preparation for swimmer who may be selected for the 9 and under Chorley Micro League Team which starts in March 2020.
The club would like to congratulate all the young boys and girls that participated in the Gala, especially the 20 that represented the Marlins. Although our neighbours Leyland Barracudas fielded a significantly larger number of swimmers, we were still able to get some great results including:

Amber Williams getting a bronze in backstroke for the girls 8 and under
Olivia Plewes getting gold in backstroke, and silver in freestyle for the girls 9 and under
Millie Jordan getting gold in breaststroke and bronze in freestyle for the girls 9 and under
Oliver Higginson getting gold in backstroke and butterfly, silver in breaststroke, and bronze in freestyle in the boys 8 and under
Owen Hartley getting silver in backstroke and butterfly, and bronze in breaststroke for the boys 8 and under

Well done to all the other swimmers and keep up the good work as there will be plenty of opportunities to compete in future galas and beat your personal best times. The full results of the Gala and times can be downloaded below.
