We hope you are keeping well.
As previously notified, Swim England memberships are due for renewal by 14th February 2021 and membership forms have been emailed out. Mary has been on a meeting with other clubs from the North West. Swim England have asked for full membership fees for all members, CAT 2 for age 9 and over. However as a club it has been decided that due to the current restrictions that all swimmers should renew as a CAT 1 member until competitions resume. It is unlikely that galas / competitions will resume for some time after a return to training. Once competitions and leagues do resume members will be asked to upgrade their membership to CAT 2. Swimmers will need to be registered and insured with Swim England to be able to swim once training resumes. If any swimmers do not renew their membership they will no longer be classed as club members. The Swim England membership fees for CAT 1 is £16.20. Stay safe and we hope to see you all soon.

Can I ask why we have to pay the membership fee when there’s no training let alone any competitions ?

Thanks for posting the update that Swim England are only charging at Cat 1. However, I do think they have a bit of a nerve till we know what is going on. Do the Swim England fees run March to March? If so that means I paid 2 memberships last year and my kids managed to swim in March 2020 only. I know this has nothing to do with Marlins and is a Swim England decision. Please can you tell me what implications there are if any by not renewing the Swim England membership until we know if any training is able to resume and also if we are able to attend training depending on what the schedule would look like. I take it I could just pay whenever training resumes as this would then cover the insurance aspect.

For claraffication. Swm England are asking for full membership fees Cat 2 for swimmers 9 and over.Chorley Marlins has made the desision to only ask members to pay Cat 1 fees untill we have competitions to attend. When competions resumes members will be asked to up grade to Cat 2.

Thanks very much for the update Mary. I appreciate the position you are in as a club and the action you took to get pool time. Unfortunately this clashed with other commitments for our children and they could not return at that time. As these payments are not due till March, I take it we can wait till then to see what the situation is? Or if they are still unable to swim we can just pay renewal fees whenever swimming starts again and rejoin at that time. We have happily paid the retainer fee for places as requested. I merely wanted to find out what the options and implications are. Comments are closed.
